John and Ann Williams pioneered Red Mountain and planted Kiona's first vineyards in 1975 with Jim Holmes. John and Jim were engineers in nearby Richland when their interest in wine and viticulture led them to purchase land on Red Mountain in order to plant a vineyard.

Scott, son of John and Ann, along with his wife Vicky, has lived on Red Mountain since 1984. Scott manages Kiona and its many vineyards on and around Red Mountain. Scott and Glen form Kiona's legendary wine making team, placing two wines on Wine Spectator's 100 Best Wines of the Year list.

Kiona's longtime assistant wine maker Glen Fukuyama joined the Williams family when he married Carrie (daughter of John and Ann) in January of 2008. Glen joined the Kiona team in 1993 after his interest in wine led him to search for a family-owned winery that grew their own grapes.

Son of Scott and Vicky, JJ Williams grew up on Red Mountain. He went to school at Gonzaga University where he met his wife, Molly. The two live in Seattle, where JJ works to promote Kiona wines and Molly attends culinary school.
